Queensland Nickel – Yabulu Nickel Refinery
Prior to it’s recent move to “care and maintenance”, JEI were the preferred electrical and instrumentation contractor to Queensland Nickels, Yabulu Nickel Refinery. JEI would typically perform the majority of the sites Electrical projects and provide any labour required to complete shutdowns or maintenance shift coverage as top up labour for their permanent staff.
In the past 5 years, JEI has successfully completed in excess of $1.8M in electrical works without any lost time safety incidents. One of the most notable projects was the $1.1M E&I works for the sites Roaster Gas Conversion. This project was performed on a schedule of rates basis for the client to allow them more flexibly as the design was not suitably detailed at time of tender.
The works undertaken consisted of:
- Installation of cable ladder and conduits.
- Install and terminate electrical and instrumentation equipment.
- Carry out process and compressed air tubing for instrumentation.
- Carry out hazardous area equipment inspections.
- Installation of new ABB 800xa control system.
- Carry out all loop checks and commissioning.
